Some things are better in your head so we made a hat
Inside his hat there is a ballet
Inside his hat there is a trap that moves us into making
A thinking hole, a cowboy womb, an object ready for possession

In collaboration with Matthew Shalzi, we built a giant cowboy hat (10ft x 7ft x7ft) with a theater inside. The hat was created as a generative object, an open-ended theater space that could collect and generate performances, sculptures, and people. The hat is an American symbol of masculinity tuned into an internal, creative space. The performances that occured in the hat were ephemeral and often undocumented, existing as bodily knowledge for those that visited and used the piece...(2016)
